Life’s a phenomenal coach

Life started coaching me years ago, evoking my own transformations and deepening my intuition, so I may be able to do the same for others.

Growing up with an addict helped me learn how to read the energy in a room and talk to people from all walks of life on a bar stool before my feet could even touch the ground.

Navigating between the wild terrain of my artist-model-caterer-hippie French-Canadian mother and the colorful and manic world of my New York City Eastern European Jewish abstract painter father taught me how to shapeshift.

While growing up on the Bowery in Manhattan was an education in itself.

I learned how to live in and create different worlds.

I am no stranger to change

I’ve moved around most of my life. I went to 8 different schools and lived in 9 countries. It taught me how to connect deeply with others, even if just for short periods of time, and to let go.

I became adept at adapting to different environments and cultures. As an adult, when life got hard, I’d normally move, turn the page and start a new chapter. Case in point, when I got divorced 10 years ago, my first inclination was to move to Paris. What was circumstantial in my childhood became the default.

I realized I needed to rewire that default so I could learn how to stay (and change internally), and I needed help. That’s when my work with a partner began, and I learned how to grow roots in Copenhagen, where I have lived for more than a decade.

I also learned that inner shifts are even more exciting than external changes because once you’re changed, everything changes (and it lasts longer than a weekend or a year abroad).

a partner in change

I wouldn’t change my past for anything. It’s made me who I am. It places me in a unique position to coach and creatively partner with people who are in relationship with change - those who desire it, feel its pull, and are in the throws of it.

All that colorful storytelling, imagining, creative problem-solving, and curiosity about people and cultures, set me up for an exciting journey as a creative director, creative strategist, idea maker, and copywriter.

It all brought me here, co-creating change as a creative consultant and coach to build a better world.

I have been able to build one for myself, so I know new worlds are not only possible but here, waiting to be lived.

The career circuit

After graduating with a BA in English Language Arts from Hunter College in NYC, I wanted to apply creativity to do some good in the world.

This took me to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where I worked as a journalist, a writer for the UNDP and the Canadian International Development Agency, and marcom specialist for global non-profit Plan International.

After two years, I returned to NYC to complete a MS in Global Affairs at NYU. After graduation, my travels continued, and I went to work as an international media consultant in Bahrain for a year, then lived in France for a few months before joining a brand communications agency in London, where my journey into advertising and commercial creativity began and continued in agencies across London and the Nordics for 15+ years.

From creativity to coaching

I’ve built a creative studio, teams, and brands, won numerous awards, and judged award shows such as The One Show (recently its Green Pencil award), Creative Circle, and the FWA. But I am most proud of work that contributes to building a more regenerative and humane world.

For the past 5 years, I have applied creativity to drive positive change with ethical, future-focused, high-impact brands, non-profits, foundations, and organizations.

I discovered that lasting change needs to start with people and then extend outwards to build ideas, cultures, and stories that shape a different tomorrow, today.

This led me to the coaching path, and after 1.5 years of intensive coaching training and education, I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) with 200 hours of training and 200+ coaching hours under my belt.

And all of this led me here - bringing together creativity and coaching, art and connection, and founding kollektiv studio.

kollektiv studio is inspired by the Danish kollektiv, a co-living concept that expands the idea of family, and studio, a space where new creations emerge.

Together, through creative consultancy and coaching, we can change the inner landscape, architect new narratives, and create new futures.

Lived Values

Connection

It is the belief that we are better together - that more is possible when we’re connected and singing in unison from the same karaoke screen.

Lived connection runs deep. It goes beyond titles, roles, or scratching each other’s backs. It is a desire to really see, hear and feel another.

Lived connection builds relationships, communities, cultures, trust, communion. It unifies across differences through our shared humanity, and enables us to bravely co-create new experiences and futures.

Creativity

Creativity is the land of co-created concepts, spit-balling, kindle crackling into a blazing fire, fast heart-beats, blue skies, and intuitive belly butterflies.

Lived creativity is having the courage, freedom, and conviction to co-design and share ideas, insights, and perspectives that shape the way we live.

It is listening to whispers from an unidentifiable, unquantifiable, but lush, fertile place.

Honesty

Creating a safe and soft space to say what we really mean and be heard.

Lived honesty is having the courage to be vulnerable, authentic, and uncomfortable to shape what might be possible through direct, sincere, and meaningful dialogue.

Lived honesty creates a spacious, non-judgmental and compassionate environment where trust is built through transparency and being in integrity.

Courage

It takes courage to speak our truth, to take a stand for what we believe in, to admit we don’t know, to release outdated and limiting beliefs and create anew.

Living courage means modeling behaviors we want to see in the world. It means starting here, now, first with ourselves and how we move in the world.

Living courage is rooted in trust, enabling us to connect, create, and share with an open heart and mind. It is showing up fully, authentically, and vulnerably.

Openness

It is an expansive and curious state of being. Lived openness is having a wild willingness and the raw humility to learn, experiment, fail forward, grow, and explore the unknown.

It is being open to change and a diversity of opinions, viewpoints, ideas, and cultures.

It possesses a child-like energy, before we gave things names, before we assigned judgment, before we had preferences. It is a readiness to emerge, to expand, to see clearly, and to vibrate higher.

Diversity

Diversity shatters the normative ‘ideal’, celebrates the kaleidoscope of fractals to create a more equitable, multihued, compassionate, and flourishing world.

It is rooted in the belief that diversity fuels creativity. When all people from across all spectrums are welcome and seen, the world becomes vastly more exciting, beautiful, and fascinating.

Lived diversity is celebrating our unique signatures and our shared humanity, what distinguishes and unites us, and continuously learning, opening, and being curious about one another in all our breathtaking permutations.

Compassion

Compassion is a compass. Lived compassion breaks from the inner circle to include the world at large.

It is the intentional design of a regenerative, equal, diverse, inclusive, heartfelt, and kind world.

It is alive in our daily interactions and behaviors, and directs our efforts and energies towards building better. It is stitched across the big and small.

It is a smile, a contribution, a commitment. It cultivates awareness and kindness towards oneself, others, the planet, and all beings on it.

Make that change

Just because change is constant doesn’t make it easy. It becomes even harder if we lose touch with who we are and what we really want.

If we lose connection with our inner compass, we get lost, and end up going in a direction someone else suggested or told us was ‘right’.  Light pollution can block North Star visibility. 

This shift is about coming home to yourself.  It is an unlearning and a relearning to identify your inner wisdom, that supportive, quiet, and powerful voice, and expressing authentically in the design of your life.
