What if failure is a win?

It’s easy to get lost in the comparison sauce when you’re building and creating (or just scrolling) on social media.

What people share is the result of a long process packed with many tiny and epic fails.

You see the gold medal, not the years of sweat and grueling practice it took to get there.

The parade of shiny objects. A conveyor belt of accomplishments. And inevitably, comparison follows suit.

Success is hot, failure not so much.

What’s failure anyway?

Failure is an ego trip.

What makes it a fail is comparison and expectation.

It’s about YOU.

When you’re connected to your purpose and the impact you want to make, and work towards that daily, failure changes shape.

It becomes about THEM.

And failure is freed to take the form of:

  • A badge of courage

  • Redirection

  • The best growth opportunity

It’s an inherent part of the journey, of your growth.

No mud, no lotus.

Check in on your success metrics and motivating force.

Stop comparing and expecting and watch how the energy of what you do changes.

A CASE IN POINT

Right before the first live webinar I ever did, I had a bad case of the nerves. I checked in with myself - What’s behind this feeling?

I was in “showing and proving” mode. I had to BE a certain way to come across as an expert or likable.

When I caught this, I asked myself, “What mode I would rather be in?” and the answer was resoundingly clear and guides me to this day:

I'm here to “give and share”, not “show and prove”.

Immediately, “I” am moved out of the equation.

It’s not about me anymore. It’s about them.

Then, it doesn’t matter how I come across, what matters is the attempt to give and share something of value, that could help, inspire, or inform someone.

This feels like the biggest relief - like freedom.

So, how do you want to be with failure?

How can you stay in your power when:

  • things don’t go according to plan?

  • someone declines the offer?

  • money isn’t flowing in?

You:

  1. Remember why you’re doing this. Cue - Purpose

  2. Reclaim your innate, circumstance agnostic power

It’s easy to feel powerful, successful and good when the sun is shining, but you, dear creator, want to feel magnificent and strong in torrents of rain.

Because, let’s face it, life ain’t all fireworks and honeymoons.

It’s also rotting fruit and break-ups.

And you can stand in your peace, in your power, through it all. Even when you feel like shit. Because you will, just like you’ll also feel on top of the world.

Reclaim your power by honoring your wins and fails.

Develop an unshakeable belief in yourself.

Come hail or heatwave, know that you will SHINE.

✦ COACHING MOMENT ✦

What drains your power?

  • People you follow?

  • That comment someone made?

➩ What actions can you take to stop the power leaks?

✦ DOSE OF CREATIVITY ✦

Who is your most powerful self?

  • What does she/he/they look, feel, smell, walk, talk, dress like?

  • How does your most powerful self move and stand?

➩ Make a mood board, a playlist, a visualization, a pose, or a dance that expresses your most powerful self. Connect to it daily.
