Invite your wild to the table

Let’s jump right in with a question I’ve been asked recently:

What makes a wildly expansive creator?

Being human.

The universe has been expanding for almost 13.8 billion years. NASA predicts it will double in size in 10 billion years. I can’t even think of a football field metaphor to bring this down to size.

Let’s just say it’s big.

And so are you.

It’s in our nature to grow, evolve, and change.

No more playing small.

You’ve been taught to put a lid on it, tone it down, get real, maybe a little smaller, yes, like that, now take up a little less space.

You’re in a box you’ve been put in and then stayed in because it got real comfortable, but even with the duvet wrapped around you, you feel the pull.

You hear the call, feel the desire to stretch, yawn, and breakthrough the cardboard edges, even though that will feel wildly uncomfortable.

That’s the thing. It might been our nature to expand, but when you stretch into your dreams, you meet your edges.

You go beyond what you think you’re capable of, what you think is possible, and it can feel frightening AF in this space.

So why even bother?

Because your fulfillment and that spine-tingling-giggle-caught-in-throat-rapid-heartbeat feeling lives in this space. That feeling of being fully alive.

And dear creator, we got one life. You might as well live it fully and discover what that means to you. What have you got to lose? You’ll lose everything in the end anyway.

Might as well show up at the finish line scraped up, bruised, tattered, worn, bleached, wrinkled, freckled, and smiling beatifically.

So give yourself permission to:

  • Create the space to dream

  • Follow what excites you most

  • Move towards what scares you

  • Show up fully and authentically

The good news? You’re not alone in it.

This newsletter is a start of a conversation, a community, where we move into our own wild, expansive, dreamy, open space, together.

All of you is welcome here.

Rediscover your wilderness within.

The one you’ve been taught to tame.

Feed your garden so it grows wildly (daisies!) and create a mess of colors and shapes that has no respect for borders.

Tap into that inner rebel.

Give yourself permission to dream. Hands in the air.

Fieldwork

✦ COACHING MOMENT ✦

Write yourself a permission slip.

The one you’ve been waiting for someone else to write and hand to you so you can get started.

  • What are you giving yourself permission to do?

  • What have you been holding yourself back from doing?

  • If you could do anything you wanted, what would you do?

Don’t let fear masquerade as reason. No matter how big or seemingly small, let yourself imagine it all. Then give yourself permission to do it.

✦ DOSE OF CREATIVITY ✦

How could you bring the permission slip to life?

  • What would help you remember it?

  • How could you make it come alive?

You could save it on your desktop, write it on a post-it, wear jewelry that represents it, or find an image or series of images that capture it best.

Have fun with it.

✦ NOTE TO SELF ✦

What you’re waiting for is already here.
